I’m so excited to share this process with you so your triggers don’t rob your health, your Voice, and Your FULL POTENTIAL.
A few weekends ago I got so triggered, like deep trauma triggered.
In that dark place I was convinced that if only they would change, I would be ok.
I wanted to flee the situation and the relationship.
But my Higher Self chose to stay and do this healing process instead…
because my Higher Self knows that to fully grab the reins of your life, it’s essential that you don’t look at any person, situation, or circumstance as being the reason you’re not free.
With each step of the process, I felt seen, held, and soothed.
I became increasingly lighter, and brighter until…
I had completely shifted from feeling unsafe, shut down, and angry —>
to feeling relaxed, empowered, free, and soft.
And the best part? This was 20 minutes.
20 minutes to freedom.
No residue.
No need to numb out to cope.
It was a beautiful rest of the night, full of laughing and sweet connection.
This is such a powerful tool, I shared a version of it in the last Garden Circle.
And today I’m sharing it with you.
Research has shown that just talking about triggers doesn’t necessarily clear them. Sometimes, talking about them actually reactivates the trauma and escalates the intensity.
This process clears your trigger so you can actually benefit from revisiting the past and evolve.
And…
you can take it anywhere, like breathing.
When I was triggered a few weeks ago, I did this while I was watching Cirque du Soleil!
So, here’s my process:
1. Start by honoring that you’re triggered. Intentionally choose not to judge or resist what’s happening.
2. Close your eyes and go inward, taking deep breaths if you can.
3. If your nervous system is too on alert, don’t worry about how deep your breath is. Focus on your gut and ask what it would say if it could talk.
4. Identify the younger part of you that is present.
5. Imagine that Adult You is there with him/her/them.
6. Take a moment to connect with them and ask them what they’re wanting and needing.
7. Then give them what they’re longing for.
8. And tell them what is true now, what your Higher Adult Self brings as a message.
9. Check in with your gut and listen again to what your gut has to tell you now.
